Andy Westwood named Policy Director

The Productivity Institute (TPI) and Alliance Manchester Business School (AMBS) are pleased to announce that Professor Andy Westwood joined the School as Professor in Public Policy, Government and Business and The Productivity Institute as Policy Director on 1st May 2024. In his role as Policy Director TPI, Andy will focus on the implementation of the Institute’s Productivity Agenda for the purpose of driving more effective policy making in the area of productivity, skills and innovation at national, regional and devolved nations level.

Andy will join the Institute’s Management Team (along with Bart van Ark, Mary O’Mahony, Nicola Pike and Charlotte Jones) and work closely with colleagues in Manchester and the other nine consortium partners to develop a strong outreach programme for policy makers. In addition, Andy will continue his research co-lead role in the research area of Institutions and Governance at TPI.

At AMBS, Andy will support the School’s impact agenda. Working closely with our new Associate Director for Research Impact & Knowledge Exchange, Professor Julie Froud, he will lead a project to establish a new unit to translate our research into regional and national business and economic impact. Andy will be on secondment from the Politics Department in the School of Social Sciences.
