The Productivity Institute Annual Review 2023-24

The Institute has made great strides in its mission to lay the foundations for an era of sustained and inclusive productivity growth over the past year, with work underway in all of our research portfolios, within our eight Productivity Forums and the Productivity Commission.

We are grateful for the fantastic work and support from all our affiliated researchers, partner institutions, and business leaders, Productivity Forum chairs and members, our support team at partner institutions and those based at Alliance Manchester Business School; and our funder, the Economic and Social Research Council.

The review has forewords from Governing Council chair Dame Kate Barker; Advisory Committee chair Tera Allas CBE; and from the Management Team of Bart van Ark (Managing Director), Mary O’Mahony (Research Director), Andy Westwood (Policy Director), Nicola Pike (Director of Marketing and Engagement) and Charlotte Jones (Head of Operations).

This year’s edition provides an overview of TPI’s research activity, with case studies on public sector productivity, inward investment, Modern Methods of Construction, and National Productivity Week 2023. It also features updates on the Productivity Puzzles podcast, Productivity Lab, Productivity Commission and the work of the Institute in the policy sphere.
